LITURGY:

    • Priests need the help of their parishioners in the greatest and most powerful prayer available to humankind.  There is a wide variety of services to be performed, and it is desirable that different individuals serve so that the talents within the community are fully utilized and these roles of service at not completed by a few.
    • Participation in the liturgy is the right and duty of all the baptized.  Parishioners are asked to place themselves and their God-given talents at the service of the liturgical community whenever possible.
    • The congregation is called to join in praise and thanksgiving in song and spoken word; to listen attentively; to exercise their baptismal priesthood during the Prayer of the Faithful; and to join their prayer to that of the priest celebrant during the Liturgy of the Eucharist.

WORKS OF MERCY:

    • To live fully in communion with Christ, we must reach out to our neighbor as well as be devoted to God.  Works of mercy are the fruit of our Eucharistic love.
    • The works of mercy are important in the daily living of the Catholic life as we live the gospel more fully.  The corporal and spiritual works of mercy are our ways to serve Jesus even now by ministering to brothers and sisters.
Corporal works of mercy:  The corporal works of mercy are kind acts by which we help our neighbors with their material and physical needs.
      • Feed the hungry
      • Give drink to the thirsty
      • Clothe the naked
      • Shelter the homeless
      • Visit the sick
      • Visit the imprisoned
      • Bury the dead
Spiritual works of mercy:  The spiritual works of mercy are acts of compassion, by which we help our neighbors with their emotional and spiritual needs.
      • Instruct the ignorant
      • Counsel the doubtful
      • Admonish sinners
      • Bear wrongs patiently
      • Forgive offenses willingly
      • Comfort the afflicted
      • Pray for the living and the dead
