Prayer Ministries

We are called to saintliness and holiness.  We read the scriptures, encourage others to read, comfort the afflicted, visit the sick, pray with the hurting, pray for the living and the dead, and pray for the conversion of souls.

SERVE, GET INVOLVED . . . I WANT TO BE A SAINT!

Prayer Line: Pray on behalf of requests given from people.  The instructions are available.

Rosary Leader: Lead the Rosary 25 minutes before Mass.  In praying the four sets of mysteries there is a profound encounter with the central truths of Revelation.  The instructions and schedule are available.  Parishioners are encouraged to come early for Mass to join in praying the Rosary.

Eucharistic Adorer: Be drawn more deeply into the mystery of Christ’s presence in the Holy Eucharist.  The instructions and schedule are available. You may also choose to be a substitute.  Visitors are always welcome in the Adoration Chapel.

Spiritual Outreach/ Bereavement Ministry: Pray with sick and dying parishioners.  Pray with parishioners after the loss of a loved one and support them.   The instructions are available.  Parishioners are invited to join in making a visit at any time.  Parishioners are also invited to knit prayer shawls or lap robes for the sick.

SERVANT LEADERSHIP, GET MORE INVOLVED . . .

I HAVE A VISION!

Please contact the parish office (453-2788 or assumptionev@meltel.net), if you would like to be a leader.

The Prayer Line Coordinator receives prayer requests, passes on when prayers have been answered, and maintains a phone list.

The Rosary Leader Coordinator trains, schedules, and thanks Rosary Leaders.  The Rosary Leader is Helen Theis (453-6681)

The Bereavement Ministry/ Spiritual Outreach Coordinator determines parishioner needs and contacts the team members.  The Bereavement Ministry Coordinator is Rose Becker (453-7496).

All Soul’s Day: Commemorate the faithful departed.  Through prayer and by the sacrifice of the Mass, help the souls of the faithful who at death cannot attain the beatific vision in heaven.  The All Soul’s Day Leader contacts parishioners to bring in pictures of deceased loved ones to display on a table near the altar.  The decorating committee takes care of setting the table.  At the end of November, the leader is responsible for returning the pictures to the parishioners.  The entire month of November is associated with prayer for the departed.

Parish Librarian: Supply parishioners with materials for education, inspiration, and motivation.  The Parish Librarian cares for and promotes the library materials found in the west end of the religious education room in the lower level.  The materials include adult books, children’s books (including AR books that can be tested on at school), and Bible Story DVD’s.  This job involves working with the faith formation director.  Parishioners are encouraged to use the library regularly.

Lighthouse Catholic Media Coordinator: Supply parishioners with materials through the Lighthouse Catholic Media for education, inspiration, and motivation.   The Lighthouse Catholic Media Coordinator keeps the Lighthouse Catholic Media well-supplied.  When materials are low, the coordinator orders more materials.  The coordinator downloads the weekly message onto our website.  Parish staff will take care of collecting and depositing donations.  Parishioners are encouraged to use the Lighthouse Catholic Media materials located in the back of church.

Divine Mercy Coordinator: The Divine Mercy Coordinator researches Divine Mercy and spreads the message- “Jesus, I trust in you.”  Begin the daily recitation of the Divine Mercy Novena on Good Friday and end on Easter Saturday in private prayer at the home.  For Divine Mercy Sunday, make copies of the Chaplet of Divine Mercy, place in pews, and lead the Chaplet of Divine Mercy after the Masses.  For more information, contact Mary Jo Ruhland, 453-3695, rhlgr@aol.com.
